Weekly Plans - Week 10 (Nov. 6-10)

We made it through Halloween and it was so much fun!
This week we are focusing on Remembrance Day.

Here's a peek at our centres this week:

Can you draw and paint a poppy?

Can you create a poppy using loose parts?

Use the magnetic pieces to build a letter.

How many cubes can you stack in 1-minute?

Recite the Ten Little Leaves chant using these props at the Felt Board Centre.

We took every student's picture (and educator too!) and affixed them to these extra Jenga pieces we had. We set up a small community at our Small World Play Centre!

Let's play Farm Dominoes (donated by a student).

In our fine motor small group, we will be using Q-tips to dab a poppy.
You can find this in my Fine Motor - Poking pack (we use these poking cards for so many things!)

We also made a large collaborative wreath using our hands as poppies!

We collected these leaves the other day with our students and set them up at our Science and Discovery Centre to look closely.

Since we are starting measurement (length and height) this week, I left out a variety of non-standard measurement tools at our Math Centre.

We filled the Sensory Bin with pasta and left out a variety of non-standard measurement tools for students to explore capacity.

In our math small groups, we will focus on measuring objects from around the room using non-standard measurement tools and recording our findings.

We will also be comparing lengths using our pencil - what is longer/shorter?

All of these activities/lessons come from my Measurement in Kindergarten pack if you'd like to see more!

I wrote a blog post a few years back all about how I teach measurement to the students.
Click HERE if you would like to read it and find out more!

At our Pocket Chart Centre students can sort the cards by colour.

You can find this in my Pocket Chart Centre - Colours pack (comes with both US and Canadian spelling).

In Religion, it's a perfect time of year to focus on peace.
We will be reading several books in the upcoming weeks all about what peace means.
You can find many activities in my Catholic Religion Activities - November pack.

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to download!

The original blank PowerPoint file has been uploaded onto Google Slides but the formatting has changed.

Enjoy the week!
