March 2021

Can you believe it's already March?  This month is packed with lots of fun stuff including getting ready for spring, St. Patrick's Day, and continuing to prepare for Easter (our Lenten journey).

March 1-5, 2021
A brand new month means brand new choice boards!
I assigned Week 1 for my remote students to do during asynchronous learning time as well as any students who would like to complete challenges at home as extra fun!

My students have been so interested in dinosaurs for the past couple of weeks.  I set out plastic dinosaur toys as a small world play and have noticed lots of interest!  This week we will read stories and form research groups.  I can't wait to see where this inquiry takes us!  Stay tuned!

I made this fun sight word game to play throughout the month of March.

In math, we will be playing some fun games to learn about decomposing numbers.

These hands-on math activities can be found in my Decomposing Numbers in Kindergarten pack on TpT.

Since I teach hybrid, I also made a bunch of fun DIGITAL activities for the remote students.
You can find these activities in my Decomposing Numbers: An Interactive Math Mini Unit:

Here is a look at my plans for next week:

March 8-12, 2021
This week we are starting 3D Figures in math!  This is my absolute FAVOURITE unit to teach!  We will be doing fun activities and games for the next 2 weeks.
(I'll post more pics as we go!)

My students are also very interested in dinosaurs so we formed research groups last week and will start to work on that.  We are also going to go on a Dinosaur Museum field trip!
You use this activity in Google Slides - put it in PRESENT mode and click your way through the museum, learning all about different dinosaurs as you go!

In my small group mini lessons, we will be using some of these activities on our Interactive Whiteboard:

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to see more!

March 15-19, 2021
This was supposed to be our March Break (Spring Break) but it has been pushed to April.  So we are planning all things FUN instead!  It's a week full of games, hands-on activities, and fun as we celebrate St. Patrick's Day!

My students LOVE to play - so I'm setting up a bunch of fun activities (and using some of these as my lessons, too!).

I also set up a few provocations for students to explore:

Here are some of the games we will be playing this week:
Find It! St. Patrick's Day -> choose a word, read it, see if the leprechaun is hiding behind

Crack the Code (St. Patrick's Day) -> follow the code and solve the word!

DIGITAL Write the Room (St. Patrick's Day) -> I love putting this up on my Interactive Whiteboard and doing it with my students.  I will also be assigning it to my remote students!

DIGITAL Count the Room (St. Patrick's Day) -> This activity is similar to the one above but students click and count how many.

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to check out more fun things planned!

March 22-26, 2021
This week we will be focusing on getting ready for Easter - I teach in a Catholic school and this is one of my favourite times of the year!  With Palm Sunday next week, we will be making these beautiful crafts.

We will also be learning about Easter symbols.

You can find these activities (and lots for Holy Week!) in my new Lent & Holy Week pack on TpT.

We will be continuing with 3D Figures.
Here are a few of my favourite games!

We will be playing "What's In My Bag?"  Choose a 3D figure, describe it and guess!

Creating our own 3D figures "What Am I?" books.

Building different structures and drawing/documenting our work.

These activities are all from my 3D Figures pack on TpT.

I also have a DIGITAL (Google Slides) pack available for those of you teaching remotely or hybrid (I will continue to assign various activities from this pack this week for my remote students).

March 29-Apr. 2, 2021
It's Holy Week!  Our school closed last week due to Covid so I will be continuing to teach remotely this coming week.  I've added a few Google Slides activities to my plans so that students can continue in the fun planned for the week!

If you own my Lent and Holy Week pack be sure to re-download because I have added a Google Slides interactive Easter story retelling.
If you own my Lent and Holy Week pack be sure to re-download because I have added a Google Slides interactive Easter story retelling.
We are planning to read Easter stories, create an Easter card and re-create the Last Supper using grape juice and bread at home.  I know it will be a beautiful week!

I've also planned a few fun Easter activities (virtually) if you'd like to check these out!

In math we are starting addition (more to come!).
Here are my plans for this coming week if you'd like to download for free!
