Weekly Plans - Week 32 (Apr. 29-May 2)

Ummmm anyone else surprised by how quickly this school year is going?
It's already May!!!???!!!

Last week was Earth Day and we spoke a lot about ways we are stewards of the Earth.
We used the ChatterPix Kids app to create public service announcements highlighting ways we can help take care of our world.

Here's a look at our centres this week:

Can you build a CVC word?
I love using muffin tins because they are already divided into 3 sections (from top to bottom) and easily help students spell CVC words.

You can download these CVC cards for FREE by clicking below!
If you do download them, I would really appreciate it if you could leave me a review!

We turned our Tuff Tray into Dino World!
What stories live here?

Can you create your own dinosaur using these earth toned pebbles?

For the past few weeks we have focused on subtraction in math. Students learned how to use these simple mats to help them solve subtraction equations.
Count out that many objects and place them in the box.
Then take away that many by placing them into the "garbage can".
How many are left?

We added The 5 Little Ducks song and props to our Math Centre to help reinforce subtraction.

You can find these mats and song you see above in my Subtraction in Kindergarten Math Pack in my TpT store:

Students can use the alphabet stampers to spell out words!

These colourful wooden blocks are always housed at our Light Table. We moved the basket on top of the light table for students to use them this week (you would be surprised by how many didn't even realize they were available to play with! LOL)

A big thank you to Mrs. Ricci, the EA that works in our classroom, for bringing in this Dinosaur Memory for our Game Table.

In our sensory bin we tinted the water green and added plastic fern leaves and rocks.
We have small plastic dinosaur figures frozen in ice which we will add this week!

Our Dinosaur Inquiry is going strong!
We left out clay at our Science and Discovery Centre for students to explore stamping footprints!

Students are researching various dinosaurs and this coming week will be creating a large mural in the hallway!

You can find this here if you are interested!

We play a version of Headbands quite often in our classroom.
I have this Spring Headbands version ready to go for this week!

We have been working on writing stories and now books during our Writer's Workshop lessons.
This week students will learn how to make an Alphabet Book.
They can choose their favourite letter of the alphabet and draw things that begin with that letter on each page.
We have these Alphabet Readers out at our Writing Centre as examples we often refer back to!

Our focus in math is Canadian Coins.
This week we will be co-creating a pocket chart to help us learn the name and value of coins.
Even though the penny is no longer in circulation, I still like to talk about it and bring in my collection of pennies as some children also have these collected at home!

Sorting coins using muffin tins.

Matching coins to their value.

You can find everything you need for teaching Canadian Coins in my pack found in my TpT store.

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to download!
