Weekly Plans - Week 15 (Dec. 11-15)

Last Friday morning was our Christmas craft morning (read all about that HERE).
We have so many fun activities planned for Christmas including practicing for our upcoming Christmas concert!

Here's what we planned at our centres for this week:

At our Science and Discovery Centre, we will be exploring what happens to a candy cane when placed in different liquid (vinegar, salt water, oil and a "mystery" liquid - which is ginger ale).

I found a bunch of Christmas creations online using Lego so I printed them and students can make their own Lego figures.

I tend to do this very often at our Writing Centre to promote more writing ... take blank paper and cut it into small booklets then add a vocabulary picture chart!

Let's help Santa get to the North Pole with this fun coding activity!

A parent donated this giant felt Christmas tree where students can attach ornaments!

Build a tree using Magformers. How many bells can it hold?

Let's look through toy flyers and make a list of some things you would like!
We will be learning all about list writing this coming week and this activity is taken from my "I Can Write!" pack:

In our small group mini lessons we are working on fine motor skills and this Bostitch single hole punch is my favourite for students to use. It's very easy to hold and punch. We are going to show the students how to fold this tree in half in order to punch the middle.

A parent donated this fun game - Match Madness - for our Game Centre.

We turned our Small World Play Centre into a Nativity scene. The DECE I work with, Mrs. Petrone, made these adorable peg people! You can find out more about them HERE.

Remember the Christmas greenery at our Science and Discovery Centre last week? We added those to our Playdough Centre along with a muffin tin as we noticed students making "baked goods".

I can't wait to see what the children will do with these large red blocks! We added them to our Blocks Centre (on the carpet) for this week.

We wrapped up our 2D Shapes unit last week in math. I added a basket of black felt mats and shape pieces for students to create their own pictures. I also added our shape pointers if students would like to go on a shape hunt around the classroom.

This week we are starting a new unit in math - Number Lines!
We will be using and also making our own number lines to explore these concepts.

Find these activities, as well as a full week of detailed lesson plans, in my Kindergarten Math Unit - Number Lines pack.

I created this game for our Pocket Chart Centre - Christmas CVC Match!
Try and match the picture on the Christmas tree to the word on the present.

You can download this game for FREE by clicking below!

Here are my weekly plans if you'd like to download!

The original blank PowerPoint file has been uploaded onto Google Slides but the formatting has changed.

Enjoy the week!
