Weekly Plans - Week 7 (Oct. 16-20)

It's definitely feeling like fall more and more lately! If you read my post from last week, you will have noticed that our students are very interested in talking about fall/autumn changes! I wonder where this will lead us...

In the mean time, we are very excited to continue exploring our pumpkins and gourds at the Science and Discovery Table. We noticed that one gourd was "very soft" last week and when one student went to hold it, it broke open! This gave us the opportunity to look inside of it:

"It looks like bread!" - E.R.

"It's actually really soft and fluffy." - V.S.

"I think you can maybe cook and eat this." - D.G.

This week we are going to cut open the top of our pumpkin (and maybe other gourds) to look at what's inside!

Here's what we planned at our centres for this week:

Can you build a letter using loose parts?

Can you build a gate for the 5 little pumpkins?

Can you tell a fall story?

Fall/autumn pattern block fun!
These pattern block mats are a free download from Jessica's Corner of Cyberspace.

One of my favourite Halloween stories is Go Away Big Green Monster.
I made these simple felt board pieces a few years ago and use them every year to retell the story!

We set up a Halloween Haunted House at our small world play centre.

Let's have fun with magic potions at our sensory bin!
We added plastic spiders, eyeballs, snakes, rats and other Halloween objects!

Can you create a jack-o-lantern face at the light table?

I made this fun and simple pumpkin faces memory game for our Games Centre.

Our Dramatic Play Centre has been turned into a Witches' Brew!

If you use it and love it, let me know! Your feedback on TpT is appreciated!

At our Playdough Centre, we added Halloween cookie cutters.

In our fine motor small group centre this week, students are using the eye droppers to transfer coloured water into the bowls.
